- 2nd generation owner Robert Yap to take on role of Executive Chairman
SINGAPORE, 16 December 2014 - With effect from 1 January 2015, YCH Group will be welcoming Mr. Bennett Neo on board as its new Chief Executive Officer to lead the company in executing its growth strategy. Dr. Robert Yap, who has held the position for over 30 years and seen YCH Group grow to becoming Singapore's leading end-to-end Supply Chain Company spanning across the Asia-Pacific region, will assume the role as Executive Chairman for YCH Group.
Mr. Neo brings with him over two decades of corporate experience to the new role. Prior to his move to YCH Group, Mr. Neo held the post of CEO (Marine) for EMAS Offshore Services, one of Asia's largest offshore support services players with presence in Asia Pacific, Australia, Africa and Latin America. Mr. Neo is no stranger to YCH Group, having been a director on the group's board since July 2014 which enabled him to develop a good understanding of YCH's corporate culture, management style and key value propositions.
“I am excited to be part of the YCH Family and honored to have the opportunity to contribute to the Group's growth journey. With the Group's strategic investments, capabilities and management commitment, I am confident of further ramping up the growth and scalability of YCH with our partners across our Asia Pacific network,” said Mr. Neo.
“As we enter a shifting Asian logistics landscape, my team and I will focus on the development and execution of YCH's business strategies to streamline overall growth directions, enhancing service experience for our valued customers in the APAC region.”
In 2005, Mr. Neo joined Asia Pacific Breweries (APB) where he started up Tiger Beer UK Ltd and oversaw the growth of Tiger Beer in UK and the rest of Europe. He then returned to Singapore as General Manager of Asia Pacific Breweries (Singapore) to run the Singapore and Contract Brew businesses. Subsequently, he was promoted to the role of Regional Director where he was in charge of various markets such as Singapore, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Taiwan and Japan; managing Tiger Global Exports and Heineken Exports (Asia Pacific). Prior to APB, Bennett also spent more than a decade in ExxonMobil, where he garnered diverse experience in multiple roles spanning logistics and operations, sales & marketing and strategy development, with various overseas assignments in Hong Kong, China, USA, Japan and Vietnam.
As Executive Chairman, Dr. Yap will be spearheading overall corporate strategy among other industry transformation possibilities. This will include high priority on the iconic Supply Chain CityTM and intensifying the development of an expanding network of blue chip assets across the region. He will also focus on spurring further innovation to develop YCH into a globally-competitive home-grown brand that leads collaboration and talent development for the supply chain community across Asia.
“The group has achieved many milestones over the past 59 years and there are still many areas to focus on in 2015 and onward. With the development of Supply Chain CityTM, we forged a commitment to be Singapore's logistics icon and Asia's leading Supply Chain player that continues to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions for the industry. Given Bennett's expertise and familiarity with our MNC customers, and vast experience in the Asia Pacific region, I am assured that we can and will achieve our ultimate growth potential,” said Dr. Yap on Mr. Neo's new appointment.
Mr. Neo currently sits on the Board of The National Kidney Foundation, and is a Council member of Singapore National Employers Federation and Football Association of Singapore. He is also the Chairman of Migrant Workers' Assistance Fund and Co-Chairman of the Migrant Workers Forum.
