Mr Mah Bow Tan, Singapores Minister for National Development and Co-Chairman of the Singapore-Tianjin Economic and Trade Council, who was the Guest of Honour at the DistriParks official opening, said, YCH is a sterling example of how Singapore firms can take their expertise and develop them further in markets like China. YCH has successfully connected with the Chinese market and can help develop the Chinese logistics sector by bringing in best practices and tactics in supply chain engineering. With the Singapore-Tianjin Economic and Trade Council in place, there will be an established platform to provide support for other Singapore firms expansion in Tianjin, and to deepen the connection and economic exchanges between the two. Going forward, we will look into more areas where Singapore can contribute meaningfully to the municipality's growth."
The YCH Group is a leading player in the regional logistics industry, and the opening of its DistriPark is a huge endorsement of Tianjin as a key port city and manufacturing centre in northern China. As an important, long term investor, YCH has contributed significantly to Tianjins development and the Tianjin government is committed to supporting YCHs expansion. We will continue to ensure that YCH and other investors will be able to enjoy a pro-business climate with a large and relatively untapped market, competitive operational costs and skilled labour. said Mr. Gou Lijun, Member of the Standing Committee of Tianjin Municipal Party and President of the Tianjin Binhai New Area Administrative Committee.
By bringing in best practices in supply chain management to Tianjin, YCH is also committed to developing local talent and expanding its base of supply chain professionals in the municipality. Coupled with Tianjins low cost base and favourable government incentives, this will form the winning combination to establish Tianjin as the preferred manufacturing base in terms of efficiency and competitiveness, for multinational companies seeking to invest or expand in China.
YCH is also continuously strengthening its stronghold in the rest of the Chinese market, as China is one of the groups strongest growth regions. Upcoming investments include development plans in the Yangshan Free Trade Port area and the Lingang Logistics Park in Shanghai. These exciting plans reaffirm our commitment to connect ideas, businesses and markets across the region. YCH will continue to pursue growth and expansion opportunities as we seek to broaden and deepen our footprint in the Asia Pacific, added Dr Yap.
YCH is the 14th largest importer in China, as well as the top importer in Tianjin, having handled US$3.3 billion of imports in 2005. It is also the only foreign logistics and supply chain management company to be accorded the Tianjin Top 50 Exporter 2005 award, which recognizes leading enterprises that are significant contributors to trade activities in the municipality.
The company was one of the pioneer Singapore firms to enter the Chinese market, in Shanghai in 1992.
