YCH spices up SCM capabilities in India

Chennai, India, 6 May 2010 - YCH India, the local operations of leading Singapore-based logistics and supply chain management (SCM) company YCH Group, today announced the Official Inauguration of its 525, 000 square feet YCH DistriPark in the Sriperumbudur area of the Chennai Special Economic Zone (SEZ). Having been in operations in India since end 2006, YCH has within these few years, already established a comprehensive network across the country to service its growing MNC customers.
From being just a simple transportation company in 1955 to becoming an advanced SCM solutions company across Asia today, YCH has over the last 55 years developed award-winning supply chain optimization and tracking technologies that are able to streamline and optimize supply chain flows to boost manufacturing and distribution throughout India. In view of the country�s 1.2 billion population, the Group is also excited to tap on India�s consumption boom through supporting the various manufacturing logistics and consumer fulfillment requirements of its world-class clientele via its proprietary order-fulfillment solutions and last-mile delivery network across 11 satellite hubs and 53 cross docking locations throughout India.

As Asia�s leading VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory) hub operator with extensive operations across China, YCH is proud to be the first company to pioneer true VMI operations for the electronics industry in India. The state-of-the-art DistriPark has been supporting the manufacturing logistics processes and VMI operations for Dell and its suppliers in India since February last year, allowing Dell to achieve optimum inventory and deliver a flexible and highly agile supply chain as it penetrates rapidly across the country.
Strategically located along the Chennai-Bangalore Highway, the eco-friendly and energy-efficient YCH DistriPark is also the first warehouse facility in India to be awarded the Gold Status for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) . Its prime location within the Chennai SEZ and close proximity to other nearby SEZs is another feature advantage, as the SEZs have an estimated year-on-year growth of 53 per cent driven mainly by the electronics industry that is expected to reach US$40 billion by the end of 2010.
Singapore Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo, who was Guest-of-Honour at the inauguration event, said, "YCH is a good example of a Singaporean company that has successfully ventured abroad. I am glad that YCH has opened up a DistriPark in India. It shows our companies' optimism about India's economic growth prospects. Singapore was India's second largest investor from 2000 to 2008. I hope that Singapore companies like YCH Group will catalyse more Singapore investments into India".
